Make a Wish if you Dare!

                        Deborah Hunt

“Make a wish if you dare,” cackled the voice from the shadows.

Lila and Emma looked around the dimly lit room.

“Did you hear that voice?” Lila’s voice quivered.

Emma whispered. “Do you think we should make a wish?”

The candle flickered. The cackling voice repeated. “Make a wish if you dare.”

The girls tried to run out of the room, but the door slammed shut.

They tried to open it, but it was stuck.

The cackling continued.

“I wish the door to open,” Lila blew out the candle. It flickered and relit.

The door slowly creaked open.

The girls started to run out of the room.

The voice cackled. “There is one more wish. Make it if you dare.”

“Make a wish,” she whispered.

Emma closed her eyes and said, “I wish to see you.”  She blew out the candle.

The walls shook and the candle frame almost reached the ceiling. Then the room went totally

dark.

The cackling voice shrieked. “You made the wrong wish and now you’re stuck with me

forever!”

The candle grew bright.

The girls shrieked when they saw the decrepit old witch standing in front of them.
